The Directorate

Robin Standage LLB (Otago) LLM Hons (Canty)

Chairman, Robin Standage is the senior partner of a Canterbury law firm that has been in practice for 115 years. He has been a director of Gold Band Finance since its inception in 1986. 

Robin's main areas of expertise are in company and commercial law, banking and finance and securities law.

His experience includes:
 - The flotation of several public companies
 - Acting for a major retail bank
 - Being a director of several listed companies, and chairman of two
 - Acting for a number of joint ventures, closely held companies and partnerships
 - Mergers and acquisitions
 - Acting for major finance companies in Christchurch and further afield
 - Transactions in the field of tertiary education

In his spare time, Robin enjoys golf, fishing and travel.

Robin Wales

Executive Director, Robin was the first Gold Band Finance employee and has been a director of Gold Band Finance from its inception in 1986.
As Executive Director Robin is involved in the day to day running of the business, while also having a number of additional business interests and activities.


John Thompson

Johns' career started off on the West Coast as a dairy farmer, then to motel ownership in Christchurch before becoming involved in the taxi industry with Gold Band Taxis in 1978. In 1986 he became a foundation shareholder of Gold Band Finance.

John is a large shareholder in Gold Band Taxis and Gold Band Finance and has been a Director of Gold Band Finance for many years after being involved in the running of the company in its formative years. John has also been involved as a shareholder/director of a number of other transport and investment related companies.

Paul A. Rogers. MBSc., Dip.Env.Mgt, Dip.Env. Mgt, M.IPENZ, MPINZ, MIoD.

Paul Rogers is the Managing Director of Spire Consulting, a New Zealand based management consultancy specialising in property, asset and strategic management. Paul graduated from Victoria University with a Masters Degree of Building Science and is also a graduate of the Australian Graduate School of Management.

Paul has been a Director of Gold Band Finance since the beginning of 2004 and brings marketing, business development, strategic planning and management skills to the GBF board. Away from business, Paul is active in motor-sport and ski racing, where he is the current President of the Mt Cheeseman Ski Club.
